ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED OR QUICKLY OFFENDED PEOPLE
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS
Enfants Riches Déprimés was started in late 2012 by Henri Levy, also known as Henri Alexander Levy. A self proclaimed rich kid with an ‘abnormal’ upbringing. The brand name literally translates to ‘depressed rich kids’, a phrase he feels certainly connected to. He added Déprimés to the brand’s name because he felt like there is a certain sense of sorrow and loneliness in being rich. Which obviously usually may sound weird to a lot of people, but according to Levy, there certainly is… I can’t confirm it though. Rich parents may neglect their child from time to time due to work and other important stuff. Though, this upbringing has made him to what he is today.
He has never been to any kind of fashion school, however Levy has gone to the most expensive boarding school in the world; ‘Le Rosey’ in Switzerland. This is where he met and connected with new people and started developing a drug addiction at a young age. Crazy fact: the first time Levy had gone to a rehab facility was when he was only fifteen years old.

ABOUT THE COLLECTIONS HE’S PUT OUT
Since the start of the brand, Levy has put out multiple collections with authenticity and exclusivity as key ingredients. This exclusivity is being realised by astonishing high price points and low manufacturing quantities. In all fairness, all the graphics are real artworks, kinda dark, but different.
His work can be described as punk, grungy, hard, disrespectful and so on… The thing is, Levy can get away with it, because everything he creates is authentic. By implementing his own artworks all over the pieces he put out.
Moreover the collections he put out. Levy addresses the fact that all the jackets are painted by himself, or by others working for him. He can’t sew, but he can draw and paint some amazing artworks. All the tees are hand distressed and re-worked. Levi said in an interview that he probably takes more time destroying the clothes than the making process of the garment itself.
SOME OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL AND INFAMOUS CLOTHES BY ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS
The absolute number one in the category of ‘most controversial’ is the ‘Mickey Mouse tee’. The vulgar graphic contains Mickey Mouse with a swastika on his tee having ‘intercourse’ with Minnie Mouse, who appears to have been sucker punched, leaving her with a blue eye or something… Very, very controversial….

In second comes the ‘Parliament tee’. This tee is so wanted, that there is serious competition between many collectors, who would pay big bucks to get this tee in their collection. It features a picture of, probably the favorite cigarette brand of none other than Levy himself.

Thirdly, the ‘porn star tee’. This tee contains pictures of famous adult stars who have died over the years. People find this utterly offensive, which I can understand personally. But to be honest, this is just the vibe Levy wants to create for his brand. It is non disputable that this piece is authentic and you will never find anything like this.

LEVY AS A CREATIVE DIRECTOR FOR A VARIETY OF VIDEOS
Levy has done creative direction for the album ‘Save me’ by rapper Future. Where he directed the videos for the songs: ‘Please tell me’, ‘Government official’, ‘Love They Enemies’, ‘St. Lucia’ and ‘Xanax Damage’.
For his Spring/ Summer 2021, Levy staged a retro movie completely directed by himself. The amount of details and cohesiveness between the choice of music and the video fragments create this very intriguing fictional theme. This video is honestly, one of the best short videos I’ve seen in a while. Please, go enjoy the video below.

ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS DOES HAVE A FLAGSHIP STORE
The very first boutique of Enfants Riches Déprimés is located on the 79 Rue de Charlot in Paris, France. The store looks cold, surrounded by stainless steel walls contrasted by a weirdly, but oddly satisfying green colored couch and rug. But indeed, very modern and elegant.
Henri Levy wanted to create a space where the customer would feel as uncomfortable as possible. The store is a mixture of a bank vault, brutalist torture chamber and ‘A Clockwork Orange’.
